Tech Forum in association with PMA & Pune Hams VU2RCP jointly celebrated WTISD
on 17th May 2025 On the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD),
Speaker Mr Sooraj Shenoi led an insightful session emphasizing the significance of this day, which commemorates the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The day serves as a global reminder of the importance of the Internet and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in fostering inclusive and sustainable development.
Sooraj highlighted the year’s theme – “Gender equality in digital transformation” – with a particular focus on the advancement of gender parity in global Internet access.
He underlined the urgent need to ensure that digital opportunities reach all individuals, regardless of geography, gender, or socioeconomic status.
The core of his presentation revolved around the transformative power of 5G.
He explored how next-generation 5G technologies, including mmWave (millimeter wave), Massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output), and RAN (Radio Access Network), are revolutionizing industries and reshaping connectivity.
Through real-world examples and forward-looking insights, He emphasized the role of 5G in creating a smarter, more connected world – one where digital inclusion and technological advancement go hand in hand.
The session concluded with a call to action, encouraging stakeholders to harness the full potential of ICTs and 5G to close the digital gap and foster equitable digital growth globally. Gender equality in digital transformation.
