VU3IZK OM Ranga gave Presentation on Hams and Weather stations
Hams and Weather have been closely connected for several decades.
Amateur radio operators use weather stations to collect and share real-time weather data through networks like APRS as well as on-the-ground reports using their radios to communicate vital information during storms.
This presentation was focused on rainfall, its effect on a Watershed, the water flows leading to potential floods and thus how Weather stations can be sited optimally and networked for detecting floods and provide early warning.
An important topic as part of Pune Hams building our own APRS
VU2FD’s APRS Kit was on display
