Date: 10th March 2026
Venue: Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune
The Amateur Radio Club of Pune was invited by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at AISSMS College of Engineering to conduct an interactive session for second‑year engineering students. The program aimed to introduce students to the fascinating world of Amateur Radio and its diverse applications.
The session was led by Mr. Vilas Rabde (VU2VPR), Mr. Manish Ghadge (VU3IFQ), and Mr. Prashant Patil (VU37KP).

- Mr. Vilas Rabde (VU2VPR) delivered a detailed presentation on what Amateur Radio is, its role in emergency communication, and the many aspects of this engaging hobby. His live demonstration of Morse code captivated the students, who enthusiastically tried their hand at learning the basics.
- Mr. Manish Ghadge (VU3IFQ) showcased UHF repeater contacts with hams in Pune. During the demo, two hams from Ahmedabad joined via the Wires‑X connection linking Pune and Ahmedabad repeaters, giving students a real‑time experience of long‑distance communication. He also explained the exam pattern and licensing process, along with details about APRS and its setup by Pune Hams.
- Mr. Prashant Patil (VU37KP) demonstrated SSTV (Slow Scan Television) reception via the International Space Station (ISS) and addressed the students’ queries with practical insights.
The students were highly curious and engaged throughout the session, while the faculty appreciated the hands‑on demonstrations and the exposure provided to modern communication techniques.

Looking ahead, Pune Hams and AISSMS have decided to organize a Yagi antenna‑making workshop and a Foxhunt competition on World Amateur Radio Day in April 2026, ensuring students continue to explore and enjoy the spirit of Amateur Radio.
